Competition Corner – September 2019

The entry deadline for Pacific Brewers Cup is fast approaching!  Entries are due Saturday, September 14th. Registration is up and running at http://www.longbeachhomebrewers.com/comp/pbc/bcoem/.  Long Beach Homebrewers are running the operation this year, which rotates among Strand and Pacific Gravity as well.      Entries can be dropped off at any of the following locations:

The Long Beach organizing team would like as many folks as possible come out for judging and stewarding as well.  Judging will be on September 28th, at 9:00 AM,  at Long Beach Beer Lab,  518 W Willow St, Long Beach, CA 90806.  You can register as a judge or steward at the above link.

The final competition of the year for the is also fast approaching.  Registration for The California State Homebrew Competition is up and running at https://castate.brewcompetition.com/ .  Since there are no local drop-offs for this competition, we are looking for a volunteer to deliver entries to the Bay area.  If you can make the trip, please contact me at c136 AT 7d.com, preferably before the September club meeting.  The club will kick in up to $100 to cover gas money.  Entries need to be dropped off by October 11th at one of the two locations:

We now have results from the Los Angeles County Fair.  Congratulations go to Craig Corley, who picked up three awards, and Carl Townsend, who picked up second place award:

1st Place Craig Corley 262 – B17 21.5: Belgian-Style Specialty Ale, Other
2nd Place Craig Corley 267 – Single #2 19.4: Abbey Ale, Other
3rd Place Craig Corley 269 – Bpa #42 21.2: Belgian-Style Pale Ale
2nd Place Carl Townsend Attack ‘a Azacca 7.2: American-Style India Pale Ale

With these victories, Craig has pulled into the lead for the 2019 Brewer of the Year Award:
