Come join Kingsley and I at our “brewery” to help us brew this year’s Brew Year’s Day beer.  Like last year, this beer will be brewed and paid for by Kingsley and I and will be served on draft at the holiday party in December 2015.  Food for the day will be pot luck food – anything that you want to bring.  One of my family’s new year’s traditions is to eat sauerkraut on New Year’s Day – so I usually bring that along and some Chili.  Bring along any beers you want to share, we will have beer on tap in the garage as well.

For our 2015 Brew Year’s Day Kingsley and I have decided to brew up a batch of Belgian Golden Strong.  For this year’s batch we are going to split the 10 gallons up between two different fermentations.  For one half of the batch we are going to ferment to style and try to create a high gravity Golden Strong that can age gracefully until next year’s holiday party.  For the other half, we are going to rack this beer into a 5 gallon used barrel and pitch lambic styled cultures to allow the beer to sour in the barrel over the year.  Both beers will be served at the party.  Here is the simple recipe:
