Competition Corner – April 2019
First up, a quick reminder that Mayfaire entries are due this Friday, April 12 at Eagle Rock, Steinfillers, Woodland Hills brewing shops. Enter now at http://competitions.maltosefalcons.com/. Judging will be April 27 at Five Threads Brewing Company. We will also likely do a local preliminary judging round sometime in the next two weeks. Check back here for details.
Results are in for the 5th Annual Los Angeles Belgian Brew Challenge. A special congratulations is due to our Best of Show Winners, John Ford and Chris Popun of Hogtown Brewers, Fort Myers, Florida. Complete results can be found at http://comp.belgianbrewchallenge.com/. Thanks to a lot of hard work by our volunteers, the judging was a rousing success. A special thanks to Los Angeles Ale Works for hosting the event, and sponsoring the Best of Show ProAm opportunity. LAAW will also host the Awards Ceremony, on Thursday, April 16th as part of your regular monthly club meeting. If you have some of your Belgian-themed beer, please bring it along as we toast the success of all the ribbon winners. We will also have a few more tee shirts from the competition for sale. Thanks also to Dean for providing a wonderful lunch, Eli for managing the cellar and stewards, Tim for running the database, Michael for sponsorship and tee shirt management, and Terry for keeping the books.
Result are also in for first round of the AHA National Homebrew Competition. Congratulations to Reuben Shah for a second place in Imperial Stout, and to Kingsley Toby for his Fruit Beer. You two guys will represent the club in the Final round, slated for the AHA convention in Providence, RI in June.
Next up in the competition is the Jeff Sanders Memorial Competition, run by Strand Brewers club. Enter now at http://www.jeffsandersmemorial.com/. This competition features a limited set of categories. Entries are due May 9th at South Bay, Eagle Rock, Steinfillers, Woodland Hills. Judging will be May 18th at Los Angeles Ale Works.

World Cup of Beer. This competition is a Master’s Championship of Amateur Brewing (MCAB) qualifier event. Registration info can be found at https://www.worldcupofbeer.com/ The entry Deadline is Wednesday, June 5th.
