Brian and I would like to invite members of PACIFIC GRAVITY to our brewing tradition…BREW YEARS DAY!
Nothing starts a New Year off right like filling the fermenters with some liquid goodness!  This year we are designating one of our Whiskey barrels to hold the brew solely for 2014’s PACIFIC GRAVITY XMAS Party! So if you want follow this beer’s one year journey from brew day to pint glass, come on by.

BEER | FOOD
Bring commercial bottles to share, bottles of your homebrew, and/or a corny of your brew to go on one of THE WALKEN’s taps. Also share your New Years eatable tradition…black eyed peas, sauerkraut, pickled eggs…whatever good luck eats to ring in 2014. The grill and oven will be available for your contribution.

MASH IN
For the brave and un-hungover souls we will mash in @ 8am on and close up shop between 5 and 6pm. Contact Kingsley at akakman@me.com so we know you are coming and to get directions to THE WALKEN!

HAPPY BREW YEAR!

Early Afternoon Rain Forecast

According to weather.com it should clear up before the party, but just in case, if you have an easy up to volunteer for the club, please bring it by Neil’s house tomorrow during setup.

Final Holiday Party Setup

Greetings members, we will be doing final preparation for the holiday party at Neil Saund’s duplex at 11 AM on Saturday.  We’ll be putting table cloths on tables, doing final prep in the kitchen, trimming the tree, and the like.  This is also a great time to drop off your beer as we will be setting up the CDS and other serving areas.  Finally, if you have equipment to loan for the party, please also bring it then.  See you Saturday at 11!

Holiday Party Preparation

Quick reminder, we will be setting up for the holiday party tomorrow (Sunday) at noon.  If you can make it, please come by Neil’s duplex (12966 Rubens Ave. LA, CA).  Also please plan to volunteer the day of the party for final setup and the day after for clean up.  Email vicepresident@pacificgravity.com to let us know about your plans.

If you can bring easy ups, tables, heaters, or other things we need at the party, please email President@pacificgravity.com .  We haven’t had many submissions, and we really need tables to pull off dinner.

Please email kperiolat@gmail.com with the dish you are bringing for the potluck if you would like a label made.

Most importantly, please email competitioncoordinator@pacificgravity.com with the beer you are bringing.  Please include the style, quantity, and ABV.

Pacific Gravity Holiday Part December 7th

Greetings members, I’m happy to announce that the Pacific gravity Holiday Party will be on Saturday, December 7th.  The party is being graciously hosted by Neil Saund (address below).  We will get started at 6 PM and are schedule to complete the festivities at 11.  Members in good standing are invited and may bring a guest.  We’re all adults, so use you judgement when inviting people.

Neil Saund’s duplex

12966 Rubens Ave. LA, CA
Saturday Dec 7th @ 6:00 pm

Bring Food!

This is a potluck party, so we are depending on YOU to bring your favorite holiday dish to share.  Please know that there will be lmited cooking and prep space, so bring your offering ready to eat and hot (if appropriate) in a disposable container (Smart & Final is a great resource for this).  If you must bring it in non-disposable dish, please be prepared to take that dish home with you at the end of the party.  We already have several volunteers to bring fried turkey, grilled lamb, ham, and carbonade, but we need help rounding out our main courses.  Bring sides or holiday staples like stuffing, mashed potatoes, yams, creamed corn, veggies, and salads.  Bring appetizers and finger food like shrimp, pig in a blanket, egg rolls, stuffed mushrooms.  Bring you family recipe or holiday traditions.  There will be no “service” but dinner should commence by 7 PM.  Please email kperiolat@gmail.com with the dish you would like to bring so we can make a label for your food.

Bring Yourself!

We need volunteers to help pull off a 150+ person party!  We will be doing preliminary setup on Sunday, December 1st at noon where we will setup everything that can survive being rained on (you never know).  Final setup will be done on the morning of the party on December 7th.  If you can volunteer for setup duty, please email VicePresident@pacificgravity.com.  If you can’t be there to setup, please come to help with the cleanup.  We need to start cleanup at 10 AM on Sunday morning.  Again, email VicePresident@pacificgravity.com to volunteer.

Bring Stuff!

We are renting some things, but we need the membership to help with much needed equipment.  Please email President@pacificgravity.com if you can bring any of the items listed below to the party:

  • Easy Ups (in case of inclimate weather)
  • Patio Heaters
  • Jockey Boxes
  • CO2 Tanks
  • serving tables

We already have things for the raffle, but if you have lightly used equipment, glassware, or other schwag to donate, please contact FundRaiser@pacificgravity.com

Bring Beer!

Please email Carl at CompetitionCoordinator@pacificgravity.com with your beer’s name, style, ABV, and keg volume so that he can make labels. Feel free to bring home brew or special commercial beers in bottles to share with other guests as well.

Congregation Monster Brew Update

We’ve pretty much maxed out the guaranteed wort allotment of the Congregation Ale House Monster Brew for Saturday morning Nov 2.   However, depending on the accuracy of volume measurement, we may have a few more batches.  If you have a second bucket available, bring it along and you might get a second pour.  Any second pours will be on a first-signed up priority basis.  My best guess (no guarantee) is about 10 more buckets.

Please put a name tag on your bucket.  Last year we had a few get lost or swapped.

Also, the folks from Telemundo 52 are interested in dropping by to check out the event.  They would especially be interested in any Spanish-proficient brewers to interview who could walk them through the brewing process.   If you are up for this (or willing to chat with them seprately about homebrew) drop me a line at competitions@pacificgravity.com, or Erick Mendosa at  Erick.Mendoza@nbcuni.com
